ABOUT WESTERVILLE'S ZERO WASTE PLAN

The City is assembling a strategic plan to help reduce the amount of materials sent to the landfill. The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) awarded a $30,000 grant to the City that covers 80% of the cost of developing the plan. The grant removes the burden on the refuse/recycling enterprise fund, which is funded by monthly fees paid by residents for trash, recycling and yard waste collection.

  • What is the Green Team's Mission?

To develop and implement a zero-waste plan that reduces materials sent to the landfill by 80% in 2032 and aspire to 90% by 2040 by inspiring and engaging the Westerville community to rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

  • Who is the Westerville Green Team?

The Westerville Green Team is comprised of passionate representatives from the City, Westerville City Schools, Otterbein University, Safex, JP Morgan Chase, Lynn Law, Westerville Public Library, Sustainable Westerville, Sunrise Rotary Club, Worthington Industries, Rumpke and SWACO.
