The Fire Division is one of seven suburban Fire Department's participating in the Northwest Area Strike Team (NAS-T) which was organized primarily to respond to Hazardous Materials Incidents in northern suburban Columbus and surrounding communities.
The Fire Division has equipped a four-member bike patrol that provides emergency medical services at various city events throughout the year, including the Independence and Holiday Parades, and various summer festivals and school athletic events.
The Fire division has a 10-member Honor Guard that participates in area fire fighter funerals, ceremonial events and other events as requested. The Honor Guard has traveled to fire fighter memorial ceremonies in Colorado and Maryland.
The Fire Division offers group classes in fire safety and storm safety utilizing the Fire Safety Trailer. Although primarily for youngsters, parents are encouraged to attend this training with their children in order to obtain a complete family training experience that they can take home and practice.

Annually, the Fire Division offers a Citizen's Fire Academy to all Westerville and Blendon Township residents. This academy is a free, 12-week program that takes participants through basic training scenarios in firefighting and EMS. Graduates will earn certification in first aid and CPR. Graduates are also invited to join the Citizen's Auxiliary Resource Team, a group of volunteers that assists the Fire Division with numerous community events during the year.
