Parks and Recreation Month

To proclaim the month of July 2019 as

Parks and Recreation Month and encourage 

all citizens of Westerville to celebrate with citizens of 

other communities throughout the nation by recognizing

that parks and recreation services are essential to the

quality of life, not only in July, but all through the year.


 

 Pride Month

To proclaim the month of June 2019 as Pride Month

in Westerville and urge residents to reflect on the ongoing

struggle for equality members of the LGBTQ community

face and celebrate the contributions that enhance the City

 National Family Caregivers Month Proclamation

To proclaim November 2018 as the National Family Caregivers

Month and encourage everyone to work through our community,

religious, social, business and other organizations to offer programs

and services that will provide caregivers the support and encouragement

they need to carry out their vital responsibilities.

Small Business Saturday

To proclaim Saturday, November 24,

2018 as Small Business Saturday in Westerville

and  urge all citizens to join in the observance, as the

City celebrates the accomplishments of small business

owners and their employees and encourage the development

of new small businesses.

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month 

To proclaim the month of November 2018 as

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in Westerville

and urge all citizens to join together to raise public 

awareness of the symptoms, prevention and 

treatment of pancreatic cancer.

 Veteran's Day

To proclaim Sunday, November 11, 2018 

as Veteran's Day in Westerville and urge all

citizens to recognize the valor and sacrifice of 

our veterans through ceremonies, prayers, and 

participation in patriotic activities in the community.

 

 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

To proclaim the month of October 2018 as 

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

in Westerville and urge all women and their 

families in Westerville to get the facts 

about mammography.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

To proclaim the month of October 2018, as Domestic

Violence Awareness Month in Westerville and encourage

residents to speak out against domestic violence and 

support local efforts to assist victims of these crimes

in finding the help and healing they need.

 Public Power Week

To proclaim the week of October 7-13, 2018 be

designated the 32nd annual Public Power Week in order to

honor the City of Westerville Electric Division for its contributions

to the community and to make its consumer-owners, policy makers, 

and employees more aware of its contributions to their well-being

and how it makes their lives powerful.

Fire Prevention Week

To proclaim October 7-13, 2018 as Fire 

Prevention Week throughout this Community,

and urge all the people of Westerville to be aware

of their surroundings, look for available ways out in 

the event of a fire or other emergency, respond when 

the smoke alarm sounds by exiting the building immediately,

and to support the many public safety activities and efforts

Westerville's fire and emergency services during

Fire Prevention Week 2018.

To proclaim the month of October 2018, as

Neighbor2Neighbor in Westerville and urge

our citizens, both individually and collectively, to

strengthen ties of friendship, neighborhood and 

community by helping those in need.

as Inclusion and Acceptance Month in Westerville

and encourage residents to participate in these community

events that bring the spirit of inclusiveness, acceptance and 

understanding within our community.

National Mental Health Month

Health Month in Westerville and urge all residents

to support Concord Counseling Services and the service

they provide to all citizens in Westerville. 

 

National Emergency Medical Services Week

To proclaim the week of May 20 through May 26, 2018

as National Emergency Medical Services Week in Westerville

with the theme, "EMS Strong, Strong Together" and encourage

the community to observe this week with appropriate

programs, ceremonies and activities.

To Proclaims May 2018 as National

Wetlands Month and call upon all

citizens of Westerville to aid in the continuing

efforts to preserve our valuable wetland resources.

and recognize this weekend as an opportunity for us

Sports Month and encourage all to celebrate by participating 

in their choice of quality of life activities, options and experiences

as well as maintaining these healthy and happy activities and 

attitudes throughout the year.

Month and urge every citizen of Westerville to join in this 

observance in honoring the life-long contributions of our older

residents; and to assist our senior citizens to continue their

involvement in the community, recognizing the vital resources

our senior citizens provide.  

 

National Bike Month

To Proclaim May 2018 as National

Bike Month.  National Bike Month is a

time when citizens can do something special

to direct deserved national attention to the 

benefits of physical activity. 

 

 National Public Works Week

To proclaim May 6 through May 12, 2018

as National Public Works Week in Westerville

and urge all residents to recognize the contributions 

which public works officials make every day to our health, 

safety, comfort, and quality of life.  

 

National Police Week 

To proclaim May 13 through May 19, 2018

as National Police Week in Westerville and ask

that all residents and businesses "Light Central Ohio

Blue" by placing blue bulbs in exterior lights and displaying

visible blue ribbons during Police Memorial Week.  The City calls upon

all citizens to observe May 15, 2018 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day

in honor of those law enforcement officers who, through their courageous

deeds, have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community

or have become disabled in the performance of duty, and let us recognize and pay respect to the survivors of our fallen heroes.

 

 National Garden Week

To proclaim June 3, 2018 through June 9,

2018 as National Garden Clubs, Inc.  National

Garden Week in Westerville and urge all residents to

acknowledge the importance of Gardening and the numerous

contributions of Gardeners.

 

 

27th Annual WesterFlora 2018 Garden Tour 

To proclaim the WesterFlora 2018 Season is open.  To

encourage all residents to support the spirit of WesterFlora

and the Westerville Garden Club's efforts to beautify Westerville.

 

 

 National Day of Prayer

To Proclaim Thursday, May 3, 2018 as a Day of Prayer

in Recognition of National Day of Prayer and the WARM

Community Prayer Breakfast in Westerville and recognize 

the Westerville Area Resource Ministry for their dedication 

of providing a valuable service to the residents of Westerville.

 

Financial Literacy Month

To proclaim the month of April 2018

as Financial Literacy Month in Westerville

and encourage all residents to learn more

about financial strategies and options. 

 

 Arbor Day

To proclaim Friday, April 27, 2018 as Arbor Day in

commemoration of the 146th anniversary of Arbor Day

and do hereby urge all citizens of the City of Westerville

to support the Westerville Shade Tree Commission's efforts

to beautify our community and commend their efforts to 

promote the planting of trees in accordance with the 

City Tree Master Plan.

 

National Volunteer Week

To proclaim April 15 through April 21, 2018 

as National Volunteer Week in Westerville, and 

urge all citizens to be aware of the contributions made

by our service organizations and volunteer workers within

the City of Westerville.

April 14, 2018 as National Telecommunications

Week in Westerville in honor of the men and women

whose diligence and professionalism keep our city 

and citizens safe.

be referred to as Celebration of the Arts Month

in Westerville and to declare Westerville as an

arts-friendly community of educators, learners, 

and practitioners and sets aside the month of April

annually for the recognition and celebration of the Arts.

Cervical Health Awareness Month

To Proclaim the month of January as Cervical 

Health Awareness Month throughout the City of 

Westerville and encourage all citizens to recognize 

that cervical cancer is preventable, and to encourage

and support women in our lives in taking charge of their

health and availing themselves of the tests and vaccines

that have proven so effective in preventing cervical cancer.

 

 National Engineers Week

To Proclaim February 18, 2018 through February

24, 2018 as National Engineers Week in Westerville,

in order to give citizens the opportunity to recognize the

contributions made by the engineering profession, and 

hereby urge all citizens to join in tribute and recognition

to the community residents who are members of this 

worthy profession.
