Residents of the City of Westerville are invited to join Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District and Westerville for a Rain Garden/Rain Barrel Workshop. Come learn about composting, propagation, getting more plants for less money, plant selection, locations and utility conflicts in this free seminar. Light refreshments and door prizes, donated by our sponsors, will be available.
Residents will also learn the benefits of rain gardens and rain barrels, how to install/design them and maintenance. The rain barrels are part of a city-sponsored program in coordination with the Green Spot Rain Barrel Program that provides storm water education in combination with access to low-cost rain barrels.
Interested in backyard conservation? The Community Backyards program offers reimbursements up to $50 after you purchase an approved rain barrel, composter or native plant and tree. Attend an in-person workshop or complete the online course to receive a voucher with eligible rebate items based on your tax district. Not all participants will qualify for each rebate and some restrictions will apply. Rebates available are based on your tax district. *Your tax district is not the same as your postal address.
