The Planning and Development Department is responsible for all aspects of development of the physical environment within the City of Westerville.

The department consists of the following Divisions which through the development review process ensure that changes to the physical environment conform to adopted plans, laws, policies, professional standards, community expectations and Board or Commission approvals.

Community Center Annual Maintenance

The Community Center will undergo annual maintenance from Monday, Aug. 12 through Monday, Sept. 2. During this time, the indoor pool complex will be closed, but access to Highlands Park Aquatic Center (HPAC) (245 S. Spring Rd.) will be available for all active monthly and yearly Community Center pass holders. The entire facility, including the Senior Center, will be closed from Monday, Aug. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 1. The Community Center will reopen on Sept. 2; however, the Senior Center and indoor pool will remain closed until Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Annual maintenance is conducted to help enhance user experience at the Westerville Community Center. The length of the maintenance period, as well as the areas being impacted, can vary each year based on the amount and type of work being completed. The following list highlights some of the maintenance work that will be completed this year:    

Indoor Pool Complex (Aug. 12 - Sept. 2)

  • Pool pumps and mechanical repairs 
  • In-pool play feature and slide maintenance 
  • Repair of deck tile and pool surface  
  • Deep cleaning once work is complete  

Entire Facility (Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, Senior Center through Sept. 2)

  • High dusting
  • Deep cleaning of the entire facility
  • Minor repair and maintenance of facility and equipment
  • Removal, cleaning and replacement of all handholds on the climbing wall to create new routes 

The Community Center will have reduced hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 24.

PLEASE NOTE: The availability of HPAC pools and amenities is subject to change due to weather and staffing levels.
