Please remember that plastic yard signs should not be included with your curbside recycling. Consider bringing these signs to the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio's (SWACO) annual yard sign recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex (4990 Olentangy River Rd.). The event is free and open to any resident or campaign in Franklin County. SWACO accepts paper, plastic, coroplast and metal sign stands at this event.
According to SWACO, the facility that processes recyclables in Franklin County does not accept these signs for a variety of reasons, including the types of plastics used in production, variable sizes and shapes that cause sorting difficulties, and the lack of end market for these materials. To learn more, visit the Recycle & Reuse Search Tool and select the "Campaign Signs" button.
Residents unable to attend Saturday's collection can recycle paper and cardboard signs through curbside recycling and bring metal stands to a local metal recycler.
