The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is testing nationwide its Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 2:20-2:50 p.m.
The EAS test will impact radios and televisions, potentially interrupting programming with a test message. The WEA test will only impact residents who have opted in to receive test messages from the service. Follow these instructions to opt-in to the WEA test.
This Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS) serves as FEMA's system for providing authenticated local alerts nationwide. Learn more about this service on FEMA's website.
